Description

Melanie manages her family’s Manhattan nightclub after the Vittorio crime family takes control of the business. Her situation becomes deadly when she watches Tommy O’Sullivan a charming but notoriously violent Mafia enforcer stab a robber to death.

The FBI pressures Melanie into testifying against the Vittorio organization. Tommy is ordered to abduct her and force her to retract her statement, but their captivity-based relationship becomes emotionally complicated as attraction develops alongside fear, control and violence.

Melanie eventually withdraws her testimony, while Tommy discovers that crime boss Jack Vittorio has secretly cooperated with the FBI. Jack is killed during the final confrontation, and Tommy survives serious gunshot wounds. The couple ends the story in love and considering a move to Montreal, where Melanie may finally pursue college and medical school.
