Christmas remains painful for Seth and Leah after the death of Kaden, the man who was Leah’s first husband, Seth’s lifelong best friend and an essential part of their unconventional relationship. Although Seth and Leah have married and built a life together, neither has stopped grieving him.

Determined to honour Kaden rather than surrender to their sadness, they host a large holiday play party for the Suncoast Society. The evening includes BDSM demonstrations, explicit play, a white-elephant exchange and a competitive rope-rigging contest attended by many of the people Kaden once mentored.

The story moves between the present celebration and important moments from the past. These flashbacks show Kaden’s relationship with Leah, his growing wish to bring Seth fully into their family and the plans he created after learning that terminal cancer would kill him. He carefully prepared Seth to care for Leah and left instructions designed to keep both of them connected to their friends and moving forward after his death.

Despite its explicit title and party setting, A Kinkmas Carol is primarily a story about grief, chosen family, remembrance and learning to continue living without abandoning the person who made that life possible.
