Description

Following the events of Crash, Laney chooses to remain in an isolated Alaskan cabin with the nameless stranger who rescued and initially imprisoned her. When Michael attempts to return her to Seattle, Laney kills him, and the couple works together to hide his body.

Police interest and suspicious locals place their secret life at risk. Laney briefly returns to Seattle to confront her past, reconnect with her daughter Victoria and visit Dean, her imprisoned former stepfather. She ultimately chooses to return to the stranger.

The book ends with Laney discovering that Cody Doyle is another man entirely and that the stranger has been using a stolen identity. She remains with him despite realizing that she still does not know his real name or history.
